So I am big into Falcon 4 Allied Force.  After a few months, I started drawing up plans for a cockpit (geek hat is on)  2 years later and with Darkstar117 help, I now have a home, lol.

Here is version 1.2.  Nothing fancy, just a few pieces of wood and nails:

It was completely overhauled a few weeks back.  Several modification that shorten it, added more shelves, and eliminated the majority of the wiring from being exposed.  I can not stand a bundle of wires, plus I have a cat that has a cord chewing problem.

Just to show what Version 1.0 looked like:

Version 1.1:

I've got an LT buddy at work that was showing me the manual and shit for that game.  Sounds like waaaayyyyyy too much work.  Pretty cool though.

Most of the binders you see inside of the side of the pit are the manuals...

Are you running CH stuff for the HOTAS and pushers?
That looks great.  I set up something nowhere near as high speed back when I was really into PC flight sims.

The HOTAS is the TM Cougar.  The MFP and pedals are by CH.

I'm not a video game player but it looks like you could pretty much learn to fly for real with that set up.

I got a plan like that...though Im trying to get my hands on a set of surplus/replica F-16 rudder pedals to attach to my home made rudder pedals. I used a CAD drawing of the real thing, and modified it slightly, using home depot parts instead. Unfortunately, no camera.

Actually...you CAN.

I'm also an addict of Allied Force.   (Though currently in remission.)

As my blurb under my avatar says,  I'm a flight sim junkie.

Falcon Allied Force is as realistic in terms of flight modelling as a non-cockpit based
simulator gets.

I've had a few chances to try my flight skills out in Lockheed-Martin F-16 mission
simulators at trade shows.  Multimillion dollar setups with dome projection systems and
high fidelity cockpits in them.    I can simply fly one of those simulators just fine without
any problems at all.   All the controls are where I expect them to be,  everything works
as I anticipated,   and it doesn't have to be set to "moron mode" for me to take off,
fly, maneuver, and land in it.

I was told by the AF Major who was in charge of the simulator that I could almost certainly
successfully taxi, takeoff, do basic maneuvers, and land a real F-16 based on my
simulator handling.    Particularly in light of the fact that I'm a student pilot (still....life
doesn't allow me to take lessons as fast as I'd like to) and have real basic handling skills.

If you allow this enthusiasm to run rampant, you eventually end up with this in your game room:

An Aimsworth 'pit.

Personally,  with additional monitors handling the instrument readouts, I'd run Falcon
in the "out the window" view, with only the HUD displayed on the screen.  No instruments
on the screen.

That is exactly what she wants. She already has purchased that ejection seat, and wants me to build the rest of the pit.

But hey, it gives me a reason to get some woodworking tools!
