I hate it when actors are given some sort of deference and invited to speak about any topic, except maybe acting. They don't know jack-ola, but they have big mouths and are too willing to exploit their celebrity and share their "knowledge" with us, the mere non-acting peons who schlep to the box office and buy tickets to their movies. Case in point: Alec "Pinhead" Baldwin. Now this guy. If these morons kept their mouths shut and nobody gave a flying fig what they said to begin with, the world would be a better place.

Looks like the pretty boy POS will do anything for a buck.
This is total bull$hit, they were portrayed as a group of nut cases, with lots of guns, ruled by a warlord, high on drugs. The film Black Hawk Down paints the Somali people as wild savages. Elvis Mitchell, who reviewed the film for the New York Times when it opened in December, wrote: "The lack of characterization converts the Somalis into a pack of snarling dark-skinned beasts--intended or not, it reeks of glumly staged racism. |

The funny thing is that most people who saw the movie probably do not know which character he played, and those who read the book probably would have to go back and consult it to remember his character.
Ask him why, if the movie is racist, did he allow his name to be attached to it if he does not support the message? Then follow up with is money and personal promotion more important to stopping the spread of racism? That ought to endear yourself to him. Kyle |

I'm not expert on these things but I suspect that this boy got paid a respectable sum of money for being in the movie. Now this is a movie that he agrees contains "glumly staged racism." I'm just a poor humble boy from da Bronx but I think that makes him a hypocrite. Or a prostitute.
I'll be the first to criticize my government if I think something is wrong with it (especially during those Clinton years [:D]). But to suggest that the US not use it's military capability in Afghanistan is patently absurd. And his position that stopping somebody from doing something is actually doing something is moronic. That argument advocates sitting and doing nothing as an appropriate response to people being murdered. Well, I suppose it's a response. It's just not one that I'm going to espouse. He's entitled to his opinion (ironically, something he wouldn't likely enjoy if he were in Afghanistan). But I don't understand what his "expertise" on the subject happens to be. If Alan Greenspan were going to talk to me about the economy, I'd listen. If Bill Parcells was talking about football, I'd put a fair amount of stock in it. But why does anybody care what an actor has to say about the use of US military? |

Make sure to ask what qualifies him to speak on the subject (and if the school is taking a political position or do they plan on having a guest speaker with opposing views). |

Let me see if I get this straight. This idiot PRETENDS to be someone in a movie who fought with courage. He goes to a school for a couple of weeks and then Pretends to be a full fledged distinguished fighting machine with a military background. He PLAYS a part in a movie and now he's got enough knowledge to supposedly be some authorative voice on the subject.
Get real. Here is a piece of advice for him: Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think your an idiot than to open it and let people know your an idiot. I'm getting sick and tired of of hollywoodcommies exploiting our brave dying honorable soldiers for their stupid ideals. |
