Here is a clean link: Link The is very lacking in detail. It just says "registered receiver." There is nothing about the provenance of the gun. Is it a converted 94 for example? An LE gun from prior to 86? Price is pretty low, so I have my doubts. |

For those poo-pooing the registered receiver - how many transferrable Pre-68 HK MP5s are there on the registry? They would have to be pre-68, as that was when the import ban on NFA firearms came in. IIRC the number of true HK MP5s on the registry could be counted on one hand? Maybe 2? |

You can put a FRT in a SP5 or Turk clone and give yourself a reasonably authentic feeling experience, but it still won’t be the “real deal.” The guys getting hit hardest in the transferable market are the ones with non-historical converted semi-auto guns or cheaper guns like MACs. The guys with the bring-back AKs, MP40s, Thompsons, registered M16s etc., likely won’t take too much of a hit. |

As to the "registered receiver" aspect, there are quite a few receivers in the registry that were registered as machine guns prior to 1986. Registered receiver guns are a one trick pony, the trigger pack is basically married to the receiver and cannot be used with other host guns. I have a Pre-May "keeper" MP5SD that was imported after 1968. |

Not completely true, a few years back the atf added 4000 or so machine guns that were dealer samples before 86 to the transferable registry, so there are transferable dealer samples out there. Pre86 dealer samples have no such markings. The Form 3 will be stamped "Sales Sample Only." A true factory MP5 with be a C prefix serial number. |

What you are probably thinking is if they left the shelf setup, you aren't allowed to drill it out for a swing down pack. But if they set it up for a swing down pack, you can use any pack you want because the receiver rather than the sear is the machine gun. The only reason people like sear conversions is the trigger group is the machine gun and you can use it on multiple host guns. |
