So I'm switching my .45 self-defense ammo from hydrashoks to something else; I wanted to check the boxotruth to refresh my memory regarding expansion and weight retention in 230 gr HPs.  But the box o' truth is currently outta commission!  What gives?

PS Anyone remember which 230 gr. hollowpoint held together best and still expanded even when shot through heavy clothes?

PPS OP, are you working on something new for us?  Please say yes.

He took it down due to web hosting problems.....

Something about the web host being stinking thieves....

It was great while it lasted.

Thanks Old Painless!

He had issues with his ISP/Webhost. I don't believe he is planning on bringing it back.

Since it was labeled the BoxofTruth, it had a slight hint of religious morality and thus has been moved to another forum.

So you're moving up from hydrashocks?

Welcome to 2005.

Try speer Gold Dots or winchester Ranger-T.

Hi Beleg.  Sorry I was late, but just saw your post.

As has been stated, I had to shut down my site due to problems with the host.  Very sad story.

The good news is that I am working with someone on Ar15.com, a member and dealer, who I may be able to help host it for me.

If that all works out, I will post the news.

In the mean time, while I don't usually recommend brands of ammo, I just bought a couple of boxes of SXT Ranger ammo for my carry guns.

Thanks for the interest.

Who was the webhost? What kind of problems did they give you?

I may have a free hosting account from work if that'll help.

Many thanks, but I used over 68,000MB of bandwidth in one month.  That's a lot of hits for a small site.

I'll see what happens with the folks I'm talking with.

But thanks for the offer.

What IS the box-o-truth?  Is it some kind of high-fiber cerial used for ballistic testing?  Will it stop 30/06?

it's a series of tests in which various calibers of various types of ammo were fired into various materials.

O.P. and taxman worked on it, documented penetration results and posted it online.

David_g17, I owe you a beer for getting my old buddy Tman's name wrong.

It will drive him nuts.

Many thanks.

Alright, I bought a box of SXT's and a box of Gold Dots.  Now I'll have to go shooting again tomorrow.  Darn.  Just what my 1911 needs; more rounds through it!!

OP, you're still my favorite arfcom member, boxotruth or not.

Shucks, you're in Texas.  How far can that be?

I'd be glad to meet you.  Maybe at the Big Houston Gun Show some day?

No, but there has been no interest shown.

That's all right.

They have been more than kind to supply me with this fine site to post my original posts in.

I've made a lot of friends here, had a lot of fun, and am appreciative.
