I recently tried to install a new monitor and PCI video card on a different computer, the instructions told me to go into device manager and disable the current monitor and disable the onboard video in the bios. Flash forward the new monitor doesn't work and now I can't use the old monitor because it's disabled in device manager how do I ENABLE IT IF ALL I HAVE NOW IS A BLANK SCREEN? ![]() thanks for any help as you can tell im frustrated |

are you trying to hook up a new digital monitor with digital cable? if so, you may need to hook it up with the VGA cable. once you have it up and running in VGA mode, go to the monitor and using the OSD tell it that it to use the digital input. hook up the digital input cable and make sure it works, remove vga cable. this is what I had to do with my new widescreen monitor (flat lcd). POS mfg didn't have any such instructions that told me how to do it.. I learned on my own through trial and error. good luck |

I would try this: Connect the old working monitor to the original onboard video connector on the computer (not the new PCI video card). Boot the system - can you at least see the boot text on the screen? If so, go back into the BIOS and re-enable the onboard video. Then, boot Windows in "safe mode" and see what happens. Sounds good in theory -- but I haven't actually done it, so let me know if it works! As for the new monitor -- did you test it using the onboard video first to make sure it worked? Or, you could plug it into your other working computer to test. This would be the first step in determining if the problem is due to a defective monitor, defective PCI video card or an incorrect software setting. ETA - good suggestion above -- I didn't think about the VGA vs. digital input possibility. |

It is a digital lcd monitor, it was working and stopped, my issue currently is when I removed the new monitor and video card and switched the bios back to using the onboard video and boot i get the windoze logo and a blank screen I tried safe mode but still its blank. this is with all parts removed and bios settings back to the way they were before the new monitor came into play i just cant see to get into device manager to re-enable the old monitor I did test the new monitor on the onboard video and got nothing my theory is the monitor is hosed im going back out to try a few other tips. hopefully I can get at least 1 monitor to work thanks for the quick response I'll update later
