I've been getting an error over the past couple of days that looks something like this:

The application  "073hsdjh32h1" referenced memory at "073hsdjh367g" the memory could not be "read"

The application varies, sometimes it happens with my web browser, other times when using photo editing programs.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Don't know for sure, but sounds like error in the memory.  Maybe the memory sticks are not seated correctly etc.  When your machine is powered down, I would pull the memory sticks and re-seat them.  If the errors persist it could be that a stick of your memory is starting to fail.

I've received similar errors at home in Win2kPro, but more often at work with WinXP (on much, much hotter machines than the ol' dog I've got at home).

Are you one of those who starts clicking things and trying to open progs/files before your booting-up PC has had a chance to "come to a rest" at the desktop?

I see it happen a lot more w/ those folks than it ever does to me.

My personal guess is that doing the above will cause the RAM equivalent of an IRQ conflict.  IOW, the file/prog will try to use memory that the comp's used to giving to your still-booting OS, or to something that runs in your startup or .bat.

That's totally the wrong way to explain what I'm thinking of, but it's .308 am and that's all I've got.

you may have some malware loaded; possibly a BHO or something. Check that.

Also, you may have RAM problems. Clean out your computer case (use compressed air or something). There is a program called memtest86 that will, well, test your memory.
