That or wolf spider.

Brown recluse is the same as a "fiddle back" isn't it?

ETA : Brown recluse / fiddle backs are bad news by the way, kill them asap.

Probably is (was?) a wolf spider. There are many subspecies in that group and all have different patterns and slightly different shaped. It is harmless.

It does bare a resemblance to a grass spider.

Have any body of fresh water nearby?

That is NOT a Brown Recluse, too hairy, most likely a Wolf Spider.

Not a bad thing, but I would kill it on GP if it creeps you out.

They are beneficial, will kill other yucky bugs, but I have a No Spider Zone around my house.

HAHA.... I would but I'm at school... don't need to learn first hand (again) of the problems having your weapons on campus creates....

Just reading online and the web seems to be the same as a recluse would do.... let me see if I can get better pics...

Not sure, probably a small wolf or a hobo.  Wolf spiders are cool.  When you are out spotlighting deer at night you can see the wolf spiders onthe ground.  Their eyes shine from way off.  Fargin cool.

Kinda looks like a wolf spider... I woke up with one about an inch across on my face.. Had to get up and go look in the mirrior to make sure it wasn't a black widow or something worse, before flicking it off into the wall.

This guy is a spider expert charting brown recluse spiders in the U.S. if I'm not mistaken...send him the pic and he can probably identify it but based on his website it is definitely NOT a brown recluse IMO

That's a wolf spider.  I have them here.  Killed one last month that was bigger than a quarter, which is the largest I've ever seen.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

I can guarantee you it is not a Brown Recluse.

From looking at the pictures of the Hobo spider it is not one of those either.
