My frig/freezer is acting up. The refrig is freezing vegetables, and when the temp is turned up the freezer thaws. Any suggestions on a way to fix this besides buying a new one would be appreciated.

There is an airflow damper between the refrigerator and freezer that is either open too far or perhaps broken. The thermostat regulates the temp in the fridge section, the freezer stays cold by recieveing more cold air than the fridge. IM if you can't figue it out. Ops (20 years in the cooling bisiness) |
Few questions first. Brand? Freezer on top? Bottom? side by side? Do you hear the fan running in the freezer when the compressor is running? When was the last time you cleaned your condenser coil? (black tubing either under the refrigerator or on the back wall of the refrig) Next question may sound dumb but there is a method to my madness. Is the light turning off when you depress the light switch? Let me know. |

Yeah I know... and we always eat the witnesses |

OK here is the deal ... turn the damper to 1/2 position as well as the thermostat. Chances are that the airflow adjustment (damper) was just set too high. if this does not improve... BUY A NEW REFRIGERATOR BUT THIS TIME SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BUILT BY G.E!!!!! (yeah, RCA is GE. ... sorry) |
would be appreciated.
. I just cleaned off the dust, could that be it?
