Police believe murder suspect was targeted

By: News 8 Austin Staff

Police are investigating the shooting death of a man they believe might have been targeted for death. It happened about 7 p.m. Saturday outside a restaurant near Lakeline Mall in Northwest Austin.
Detectives say Anthony Benesh, 44, his girlfriend and his kids were leaving the restaurant when Benesh was struck by a single bullet while entering his car.
Witnesses say they saw no suspects near the scene. Police are particularly interested in recent business dealings Benesh had that could hold some clues.
"He was interested in pursuing his own club. He was told by several associates and relatives to back off his endeavor to pursue this club. He did not heed their warnings; in fact he was somewhat challenging of their warnings," APD Lt. Peter Morin said.
Police believe the shooter could have fired from either the frontage road of Highway 183 or the upper deck. So far they have no suspects.
If you have any information about Benesh or the scene of the crime, please call Austin detectives at (512) 477-3588.

Turf war??? It is being reported that the victim was trying to start a Hell’s Angel Chapter.

Not a turf war. Turf protection more than likely.

If he was trying to start a Hell's Angels chapter in Texas then he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Texas is Banditos territory. The Banditos and the Hells Angels are mortal enemies.

The Banditos would not allow the Angels to gain a foothold in Texas by setting up a chapter. Just as the Angels wouldn't allow the Banditos to set up a chapter in California.

Oh wait a minute.  It's prolly just the greasy cheeseburger I just had that's making me feel badly.
