I haven't got my remington 700 yet, hopefully by the end of next week. I should have enough money to get one of the following also:

1) Enfield in .308, pistol grip, 16" barrel with muzzle break. $249

2) Mauser with the bayonet $229

3) Romanian AK47 with a mount on the side for a scope. $359

Already have a POS Maadi AK47, but would like a better one.

Think the Enfield would complement the Remington 700 in .308.

Always wanted to pick up a Mauser!

Better eventually get them all.  LOL  I recently obtained a Yugoslavian M-48.  It is a beautiful rifle.  I haven't shot mine, but a buddy who bought 3 says it will shoot 2" groups with cheap surplus ammo.  They are numerous and cheap now but will not be there forever.

I also have a yugo m98, have never shot it but got a great deal from mitchells mausers, damn thing had cosmoline all over it though, what a bitch to get off. everytime I touch the thing I smell cosmo on my hands for days. anyway a mauser is not a bad way to go, just watch out for 8mm with a steel buttplate.

$359 for a Romanian AK sounds kind of high. AIM has them for less than $300.

Why .308. I am wondering because I am still up in the air myself; 700 Police in .308 or .300WM? I may get both eventually but right know...?????  I already have some .308 rifles...... so....... but.....SHIT, I can't decide?????

I'm going with .308 because ammo is cheaper and easier to get a hold of.

If you already have some rifles in .308, then that's what I'd go for.
