| They have something I want real bad at a great price. Should i risk it?? Any improvement lately?? |

I have bought from them in the past and will probably do so in the future. I hear occasional complaints but virtually all vendors are complained about sometimes. Until a company screws me around in a deliberate fashion I will give them a chance. And I do understand how they might advertise an item and then not have it when I place an order. Shit like that happens sometimes. As long as I use a Credit card and have the ability to call the card issuer and have the charges reversed my money will be safe. All I might lose is some time. No biggie. |

No. Although they did finally inform me that some of the stuff I ordered was no longer even being sold, and then politely explained that that was a potential cause for them not having it in stock, despite my verifying over the phone. Not bad people - but if your time has a dollar value, go elsewhere, be happier. |
Over a dozen orders and never an issue. My 5.11 clothes from them will be here Thursday. They had a good deal on a Maxpedition rifle case a few weeks ago that I picked up too. |

Placed an order two weeks ago; no goods. Can't even get the bastards on the phone. Anybody know the secret number that they actually answer? Not the end of the world; they haven't billed me, and it's just magazines...I'll order from somewhere else, and if they ship them in two months, I guess I have extras.

I don't even consider them a source. Over the years, I've read thread after thread after thread saturated with complaints about them. Complaints not only from dozens of anonymous users but also from people I personally know and from members with long established reputations. I don't care if they are the only company in the world listing my favorite product - I would not give them my business. I value my time and money too much to gamble it. I recall quite well a thread asking this same question. The thread author was warned but decided to listen to those who "never had a problem." He bumped his thread over a month later advising he never received his gear. I know we have a number of Botach employees on this website. I've approved their accounts. And each time I do, I wonder if they'll ever chime in on one of the many complaint threads posted on our forums. It hasn't happened yet. |
That's the thing -- they aren't crooks, just jerks. They aren't trying to rip you off, they just don't give a damn. Hence the lack of efforts to actually defraud people. It's a pity, because they work well when they work, but too much stress for me. ETA: I know lots of people who had great experiences with them until they didn't, and are now pretty quick to advise others. You have to get someone pretty upset for that to happen. |
+1, except for me it was three times. Mostly $200+ orders, e.g.a Surefire M500A. That said, I am a gamblin' man. I realize ordering from Botach is as risky as a roll of the dice at the craps table in Atlantic City. I try to hedge my bets by calling and asking if the product is in stock. If they won't confirm, I don't order. Sometimes you got to know when to hold em and know when to fold em. But I won't bash anyone who refuses to do business with Botach, because not every man is a gamblin' man. |
