I did have hunting saftey in sixth grade at a public school.  Of course it was in Oklahoma, but it was a suburb, not rural.  I bet they don't do it now.

Would you trust a public school teacher to teach your kids firearms safety? And remember that teaching is not exactly a bastion of conservatives. Having "them" teach firearms safety will probably have your kid coming home and asking "Dad my teacher says you have guns because you have a small wee-wee and that the 2nd amendment only means that we can have a National Guard, is that true? He said you were a "freeper" also, what does that mean?"

I grew up in the 'burbs so there wasn't much hunting going around except for weed and pootang. I learned to shoot in the Boy Scout camp (not band camp [:)]) at age nine or ten on single shot .22LR rifles.

Sex and drug education belong in the home. I'll let some old washed up gym teacher teach my kid the fundamentals of driving. Children are really learning well before they are taught these subjects at home.

"Daddy smokes crack, beats mom when he comes for visits with my newest "auntie", and when I grow up I'll do the same."
