HK handgun owner/CCW guy checking in:
HK rifles are not worth it for the coin. |

How much are they? North of 2k and you can get a E3 mod 2.

Junk. Overpriced, too heavy, neutered internals, shitty barrel.
You can build or buy a much, much better rifle for half the cost. |
|
What's it do for me besides lighten my wallet better than a regular old non-HK rifle?
It's an AR. Saying HK on the side doesn't make it any different. Sure, it's piston operated....so what? |

Arfcom has been hating on HK stuff for the last 15 years and SF groups have been using HK stuff for the last 15 years.
Who are you gonna trust; SF guys or GD guys |
|
Nope. HK should stick to handguns and SMGs. Their rifles have always been inferior to the competition in some form or another, all while costing more. As well as their LMGs.
Basically handguns, MP5s, MP7s, and M320s. |
|
Didn't the guys from Battlefield Las Vegas say it sucks.
Shot out the barrel way too quick |

We were low on the carnivore totem, so that attitude only gets stronger as you go higher. Same reason SF was wearing Multicam when big army was in ACUs, then when big army got Multicam, SF went to woodland. Because they can. |

I carry a HK, but I'd rather spend that money on a KAC when it comes to carbines.
|
|
Buying it cheap and flipping it during panics is just about what it's good for.

If it were $2,000 I could see myself maybe one day saving up to buy one. More expensive than that the novelty doesn't become worth it any more.

Unless of course you're just suggesting it's good simply because SOF use something remotely similar to it. |

HK makes some good stuff, but they never make cost efficient stuff, which is why I don't own any of their stuff. Poor value proposition. Look at the mp5 pistols they are starting to put out there now. Almost double the price of clones. I also don't like their obsession with arming government's and only vague interest in the civvy market. Very telling to me.

My feeling is that if it came with a proper weight chrome lined barrel and A5 gas system, then it would be worth it. As is, no way.

View Quote Say it did come with a barrel that's chrome lined and had an a5 buffer and was 3500. Still not worth it. I can build something way lighter and nicer for the coin. Imo. |

View Quote HK therefore over priced. Pretty much everything they make is at least 50% more than a comparable product from someone else. |

I would buy a Knights long before I would buy an HK.

How about SF guys on GD? HK416s are overly heavy and the locking lugs like to break off. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Since the HK uses this same design I would expect it to exhibit some of the same flaws. |

For the low price of $2900, you get a barrel that is neither chrome-lined nor nitrided, and rifle that likely weighs over 10lbs with loaded mag and optic.
Knight's offers a better rifle, with more features, at a lower price. |

Define "overweight".
It weights close to the same as an M16A4 with optics. |

I swear by HK pistols but I'd never buy one of their rifles.
My buddy is an ATF SRT door kicker type and I've played with his 10.5 inch 416 quite a bit. No issues, they love them, but it didn't function any better or worse than any other high end AR and he said the same thing. |
