Not only did I vote, I registered and gave the mayor a piece of my mind.

woot! #357 |

I voted against but honestly it's no differant than anywhere else... there are multiple points of view
on 1 side , drunk bastard follows you out to your car and tries to rob you, you need somthing to drop the 300lb sasquatch on the other side you got bar fights that turn ugly, drunk f^ck goes outside grabs a gun and kills other guy and anyone else who helped the other guy. Side 3 , you witness drunk bastard assaulting woman in alleyway, you grab trusty firearm and apply the coup de grace to the back of his head "unless you want the attacker to get out of jail 2 days later and attack someone else" |
Nothing preventing me from CCW in a bar, so long as I don't consume alcohol. |
Nothing preventing me from CCWing in a bar AND shitfaced drunk. Except common sense of course... |
+1 and there is no reason you should be prevented. If I go to the bar to drink I leave the weapon at home, if I happen to stop by for a bite to eat or a quick conversation I don't drink. Some situations call for more fire power than whiskey power! |

You want to make the streets safer? Nail all the drunks driving out of the bars parking lots.
ja |
aha he nailed it.. cops should just sit in the parking lots on their brake time eat lunch, notice a drunk about to drive off club his ass and call the paddy wagon. |

I keep my HK .45 in my 350 at all times strapped to the seat.

The cops here started setting up "license checks" a block down the road from a local club. The club owner sued(I don't remember what his grounds were) and won. Now the cops aren't allowed to conduct "license checks" there on weekends. |

Screw license checks. Just watch them drive out of the parking lot and pull them over for suspicion of drunk driving. Just say they were weaving. |
If they can't conduct license checks down the road a bit I bet they'd just get sued again for actually watching the parking lot. I am all for police watching the parking lot, btw. I wouldn't mind if there was a cop with a portable breathalizer standing outside testing people as they leave. If they are drunk he gives them one warning, "if you walk over there and get behind a wheel the officers in the cruisers parked over there will arrest you". I am all for civil liberties but I don't think being able to walk out of a bar drunk off your ass and drive away is one of them. |

Roger that. If they notice them driving drunk, they should also tazer them for resisting common sense. |

In GA you cannot have gun in an establishment that serves alcohol. while I dont necessarily agree with it, its the law. Probably makes sense - booze and guns dont mix.
What happens when there are houses, apartments, condos with in 200ft of a bar? Does that mean that those who live there cannot keep a gun in their home? I wouldn't want to live with in 200 ft of a bar but for those in larger cities that could be a problem as there are bars every where.

Alot more situations than that though, and you know it'd get abused. What if you had a CCW for work and left it in the car trying to be responsible? What if you were an off duty officer (I realize this would never apply but it probably COULD). what if you stopped after a day at the range with friends? The gray area is WAY to big, and the gubment has already repeatedly shown they abuse that slack if you give it to'em |

Every time I walk past this particularly seedy bar I can hear my gun talking to me saying "come on, go on in and have a beer, you know you want to and anyway I'm here to protect you if you get in any trouble, right?"
Not illegal to enter and bar AND drink here.
If I'm planning on drinking to point of impairment, my pistol stays locked up, at home. BSW |

That's not very sportin'. Ya gotta give us a chance to run. |

done.
I carry in bars all the time. I just don't drink... Mark. |
Call me crazy, but I'll go ahead and wager that someone who is going to murder someone probably is enough of a dirtbag that he won't obey the gun law in the first place. I know I'm being nonsensical, but last time I checked "Criminal" = "one who does not obey laws" Could be just me though - I'm sure dozens of serial killers are stopped everyday not by the threat of a life sentence, but by the additional gun charge involved should they murder someone with an "illegal gun". |
