I reformatted my computer due to a virus, webHancer, that seemed to be slowing it down and my computer games wouldn't work.

Now that I reformatted it, my spy-bot, ad-aware, diskeeper lite and McFee programs will not work. They are sloooooooooooow and never finish.

Computer Games will not even load now.

I'm having constant problems with writing messages like this one. Cursur disappers, it keeps acting like the "Enter" button is being used.

When I start the computer it takes a long time for everything to come on. And some don't even come on.

Any ideas?

Should I take this computer back to Best Buy? I have the extended warranty, good thing I bought it.

HELP!

assuming it's windows, hit alt/control/delete then processes, and click CPU tab and see what's eating the cycles

kill it or End Process then check these leads out leads

After you kill it, do a "dir SZserver.exe /s" from the cmd prompt, find it, temporarily rename it to SZserver.exe.tmp, follow the Google link to see if it's a virus or not, if so, leave it renamed, if not see what the Google links say to do.  That's how I would approach it

That's Stopzilla.  It's anti-spyware.  Kill it and see if things speed up.

if you reformatted and your still having problems you most likely have some type of hardware problem.  possibly a bad harddrive

I'd definitely start with ending the process SZServer.exe.  I don't allow anything to take up that kind of CPU usage unless I click on it to run.  Does that release the computer to do it's normal thing?  If not, then maybe uninstall StopZilla for right now.  At some point you reformatted and were able to load up Spybot, AdAware and McAfee after the reformat...so was the PC working ok at those times?  Working on this sort of thing has to be methodical, find the last known state in which the comptuer was acting fine, then build forward from there.

As for problems writing messages...open up Notepad (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Notepad)...and just sit back.  Is it trying to enter things without you touching the keyboard?  Now talk or play music...does it try to do it then?  If so, that may be an issue with the Language Bar being turned on and trying to convert speech to text, it's also CPU-intensive.

That did it! Everything was working just fine, including Stopzilla, and yesterday everything changed!

Thank You!
