Someone won my Gunbroker Auction for some magazines.  They sent the money order to me.  I was looking at the Gunbroker auction and noticed that the name and address on the auction is not the same as the address on the money order or the address I was asked to mail it to.  Not even the same state.  The winner explained it as the Gunbroker ID is his stepfather's account and he uses it due to the positive feedback.  That account only has 2 feedbacks and prior to me questioning the different names, he requested I provide positive feedback.  That tells me he intends to use that account as his own if he cares about feedback.  What are your thoughts?

What states were they?

You've been paid.  Ship the danged mags as long as they're not going somewhere they're prohibited (NY, MD, etc).  People loan out their accounts all the time.

Account is in a ban state.  Shipping is not.  I have not cashed the money order.

I wouldn't worry that much about it, unless they wanted you to ship it to a state where it isn't legal. They can't do a charge back, so you've gotten payment and they can't take it back. Ship where he wants it shipped.

Take the money.

Make sure the money order is legit. If a USPS, go to the Post Office and cash it. If somewhere else, contact them and verify the money order number and the amount. Some of those things are very easy to fake.

I will do this.  I worry more about someone operating under someone else's account and the fact that they could commit fraud on sales under someone else's name.

I'm interested to see what would happen to someone from say WA that sent magazines to NY that are now banned. Is NY going to send police to WA to arrest you? As these laws are for each state and aren't to be enforced by the feds as the magazines are still legal under federal law,,, But I'm no lawyer just doing some friday night thinking... Hope everything goes well with that order for you though.

Ship the mags, and be done with it.
