My nephew DJ is going into the AF at the end of this month. I took him to the range today.

yep, I would like to be a fly on the wall if he was going to the Benning School for boys with that hairstyle.

There would be much hilarity to follow.

Btw... tell him thanks from an old Vet for stepping up and serving...nice to see some of todays youth still have the sack to serve thier country

He still has time to normalize his hair before he leaves for basic.  I suggest it.

He's having fun with his hair before he leaves. He'll lose the Mohawk before then. He has a sense of humor.

Those are my rifles.

He needs to work on the finger discipline a little, but at least he was aiming downrange.

When I joined the USMC my hair lasted approximately 30 seconds from getting off the bus.  If the USAF is the same way he will have no worries, but warn him it is NOT regulation!!  lol

You should lay on the ground when you shoot, cement is so much more comfortable than a chair...........

Nice pics! It looks like you guys had a great time.

I hope you'll excuse me if I ask what is probably a stupid question: how did you get the rail cover on the top rail? It looks like a Knight's RAS with Knight's covers. It would seem that access to the rear of the rail would be blocked by the (slightly) higher receiver rail and access from the front of the rail would be blocked by the front sight. If you attached the cover to the top rail (before installing the top rail), you couldn't tighten the screw that tensions the rail against the barrel. What am I missing?

Attach the cover before installing the top rail. You can slide it forward just enough to then install the screw.

Those pics are proof positive that AR > AK.  Look at his face.

He will than live with that moniker for the rest of his time in basic.

He doesn't get his first haircut for a few days after he gets to Lackland. Have him remove it before he gets there, for his own good.
