I have a chance to buy a New England Firearms  single shot 12 guage shotgun with composite stock.. basicly like new condition.  Any idea what a fair price on one of these guns is?

I'd say 120 new these days.  75 sounds right for a used one.

I would go up to $100 if it is in fantastic shape.

I personally would only pay $50 for one in excellent condition. Realisticly though $100.

By the way its not a good ideas to tell people you are going to straw purchase a gun for a friend.

ftf is not a straw purchase, plus it can only be a straw purchase if the other party cannot legally own a firearm.

I bought one in .12 last year for $99.

It will last you your whole life, and keep working well into the next century if you take care of it.

Those H&R/NEF shotguns are not pretty, but they are solid and just about indestructable.

I'd say $75 is a fair price for a like new one.

It will kick like a branded steer, however. They are very light.

Technically your right. But then he should loan the friend the money and have him go through the back ground check and at no point should the OP take possession of the weapon. I shouldn't call it a straw purchase but it just doesn't look right to buy a gun with the intent of selling it to a friend that "doesn't have $100".

I will buy it .. but im buying it for myself not for anyone else. I decided it would be a good truck gun or maybe just a "behind the door gun"  or maybe ill just use it to weigh down my gun safe.  I have no intention to buy the gun to just turn around and resell it ...sorry if what i posted implied that.
