Does anyone else have trouble growing a beard?  I am thinking about growing one.  I've been home sick for the last 5 days and haven't bothered with shaving.  Started thinking I might just let it grow. But, after 5 days, I look like I just have a lot of stubble and have a scruffy look. Not very thick.  Any ideas as to how long it will take to grow in? I know guys that can grow a full beard in two days, me I look like a Porcupine.  I have discovered where all my gray is though.

I can't grow consistent facial hair so I don't bother trying.

Takes me a week for that awkward in-between phase of 'is he just lazy' or 'it's a beard'.

Yeah, have to get through the phases.

There is 'he's lazy and didn't shave', 'must be a shitty divorce' and then 'hello distinguished gentleman!'

I usually get rid of them after a week 'cause they get too itchy

I couldn't grow a beard before the cancer. It just grew patch and non-consistant. Now after 2 rounds of chemo and  a transplant, my face looks like sasquach Go figure.

Do you have to come out of the closet before you can have a beard???

I have ventured in to the hunting season beard
required before you can go into the woods.
This will be my umpteenth try but this time I
started the last week in august. I am the milk whitie
of whites. If you keep it going well............
I'll post a picture after dinner, that should discourage
your attempt.

I'm about two weeks into my attempt, and it still looks scruffy. I blame my mother's side of the family.

This is about the 7-9 day mark for me...  You HAVE to fight through this phase because shortly after it will start looking like a no-shit beard.  The part I can't stand having hair on is my neck.  I've GOT to shave my neck every four days or so.

I wish I had that issue, I have to shave while I'm shaving just to keep up!

I'm documenting my beard growth with a weekly photograph.  I started last week.

Beard growing is intense.

I'm letting it grow as long as I can stand it.  I've had it maybe 3 times the length it is right now.. which really isn't anything spectacular, but I felt pretty cool.

I took about two weeks to get something that actually was presentable.  There's also the three or four day itchy period in there.   Took me three tries to get past it.  But it does stop itching.

I have thought about it, but after 5 or 6 days it itchs so bad I just say screw it a shave.

I make you look like Grizzly Adams.  At the rate mine appears to be growing, I'll be at that stage sometime next year.

If you want to grow more hair, shave with a razor twice a day [wheather you need it or not] every day for a month, then try again.  The theory is that that stimulates the hair growth...
