| I was driving down 130, a tollroad here in Texas when I had a blow out. For most people it would not be a problem, but I am disabled and use a wheelchair and hand controls to drive my truck and I can't change a tire. I called AAA to come help, they told me it would be about 45 minutes before they could get someone out there. I was sitting there waiting when I see a DPS cruiser pulling up behind me. Man, this trooper really blew my mind! He changed my tire for me and made sure I was able to merge back into traffic safely and we both went on our way. I guess I share this because there seem to be alot of people out there that think cops are out to hassle people and don't care. I was one of those people pretty much until this experience, and I now know there are some real good guys out there in law enforcement. Just thought I'd share this experience... |
| Good to hear rollingtrouble. I had a similar experience with the Ohio Highway Patrol. I was on my way with my girlfriend to a wedding reception and had a blowout on the freeway a couple years ago. I wasn't looking forward to changing my tire and had just taken my suit jacket off and had pulled the spare out when a trooper rolled up behind us. After I explained our situation he said "your gonna get that suit dirty, let me fix that tire for you". I couldn't believe it because he was impeccably well dressed himself. A very nice guy and very professional. We did it together and the gf and I were on our way in about 15-20 minutes. I have nothing but respect for the OHP. Glad to hear that you had the same experience. |
