A lady had it and it wouldn't run.

cleaned the carb, and the idle jet was clogged, runs like a new one.

Its a taotao 250D IIRC

still had the rubber tits on the tires and the oil was still clear.

One YouTube video on how to clean the carb and we got a $1400 ATV for $550

Thanks, it's a good starter ATV and if everyone likes it we might get a bigger model.

Didnt want to drop $5k or more on one until I am sure it would get used.

Its fun, but now I want a Razor

Ever driven or ride in a SBS? I personally prefer ATV's.

Good starter at the right price for sure.

If you are very, very careful, you might be able to slowly work the hook out of your mouth without too much damage. I wasn't able to.
That was 40 years ago, 5 or 6 quads, 4 sand rails, and on our third UTV, a Rzr1000 turbo.
Not to mention untold RV's and trucks, etc, to haul all the stuff around.
In fact, we are leaving in the am for a trip, LOL.
We have two grown sons with families of their own and they have followed along. They tell me they remember everything, and now that they are finding out what it took they are thankful for the effort we put into making those memories.

Have fun...but stand by...

I knew a guy with a Tao Tao. Meh.
I bought my son ( just turned 5 then) a 70cc Eton viper 2 stroke.
3 years later and he is still beating on it almost every day. Awesome quad.
It was $300 like new. I doubt I will get that lucky again.

Yea

Kid have never had a ATV, better for them to learn on a $550 ATV than a $3-5k one.

I rode it all over the 40 acres and rode it home from the person I bought it from.

I got it to 35-40 mph as per the wife following me.

Plenty fast as I never had a ATV. I grew up with dirt bikes and my last one was a KDX 420.

Im old don't need to go out and break my neck on a ATV after surviving 400+ parachute jumps

Yea my buddy had it in his garage, he was storing it for a friend.

They didn't want it and said $550.

I took a chance that I could get it running, chicom carbs are pretty simple to fix, just watched a YouTube video and had it fixed in a hour or so.

My only issue with the chinese knock off quads and bikes are their soft metal bolts.  If you can find a set of hardened fasteners for your model it will save you lots of future heartache and they are pretty cheap.

Finding parts for Chinese ATVs can be a pain in the ass. The company's never stay in business long, a year or two, and then they're  sold or bought up or whatever.

I've worked on several, can't remember the names, but it got to be a pain in the ass finding parts, gasket sets, Etc.

Taotao might be a different deal,  I've never worked on one of those.

Good deal tho. Enjoy your new toy.

On our third taotao, we also have a couple honda’s and a couple polaris atv’s. Don’t for a minute think that the taotao is as rugged as a honda/yamaha/kawasaki/polaris etc...
They are fine for around the yard or farm with lots of preventative maintenance but hard trail riding will destroy them in no time flat.

And buy yourself some loc-tite... you will need it. They like to shake themselves apart.

I bought my boy a TaoTao 110cc Tforce last year.

I bought it knowing there was a chance it wouldn't run right, but it runs awesome.

Just a heads up, change the oil immediately.  Hopefully the previous owner didn't leave the shipping oil in the engine, that oil is baaaad bad bad.

The most you'll hafta do on these Chinese copies of the Honda engine is change the oil out every 10 hours or so, replace the fuel lines after a few years and throw in a good spark plug with a NKG coil.   Ours runs awesome.
