Searched for dupes using "trespass," and "First Amendment" and didn't see anything.

The SUPERBOWL is now an event of "National Significance" that we are prohibited from protesting near?
edit: I'm stunned, but I know I shouldn't be. It's like watching a trainwreck. You want so desperately to be able to stop it, but you know you can, and you want to look away, and you know you can't do that, either. |
| Didn't read the entire piece but if it is aimed at keeping retards from disrupting a meeting or similar, I'd be fine with that. First amendment means you have the right to express yourself. It doesn't give a bunch of tards the right to keep others from doing so by shouting them down and disrupting meetings. |

I get put off by long articles as well, but this really does chip away at the 1A. |

What is the point of even having some Constitution, when someone else will only be able to argue that excuses etc., are needed to restrict and limit that same Constitution. Why have any rights when the justification is whatever it takes to no longer have that right? The fact is, Constitutions never mattered, get used to it I would say. Also, get used to the lets justify no rights at all. We must be retards that are disrupting some other fucktard, etc. |

The US House of Representatives voted 388-to-3 in favor of H.R. 347 late Monday, a bill which is being dubbed the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011. In the bill, Congress officially makes it illegal to trespass on the grounds of the White House, which, on the surface, seems not just harmless and necessary, but somewhat shocking that such a rule isn’t already on the books. The wording in the bill, however, extends to allow the government to go after much more than tourists that transverse the wrought iron White House fence. Under the act, the government is also given the power to bring charges against Americans engaged in political protest anywhere in the country. Under current law, White House trespassers are prosecuted under a local ordinance, a Washington, DC legislation that can bring misdemeanor charges for anyone trying to get close to the president without authorization. Under H.R. 347, a federal law will formally be applied to such instances, but will also allow the government to bring charges to protesters, demonstrators and activists at political events and other outings across America. |

This thread needs an injection actual source material, rather than other people's opinions. It's a short read.

I smell Rahm Emmanuel and the G8.
If you wanna see how this plays out, watch the G8 Summit in Chicago, this may. The entire show is ultimately under the purview of the Secret Service. eta: The G8 conference means the heads of state of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, UK, and USA and a thousand+ (each) of their lickspittles are going to be here I think the Chinese will be here too. The security footprint will stretch from north Michigan ave. to past the McCormick Place convention center, from into the lake to well west of the loop and McCormick. A lot of protester types are anticipated, from vegan lesbo PETA chixx to molotov throwing anarchists. Like Occupy Gets Real and then really gets Real. As it stands, the Chicago Police Dept. does not look like it can stand up to the anticipated shitstorm, and surburban jurisdictions sound disinclined to lend a hand due to Chicago's reluctance to properly immunize (legally) them. G8 occurs in mid-May. Repub convention in late August, Demcon early Sept. Popcorn time. |
