I just can't take the incessant bickering and political correctness on this site anymore. I am leaving and never coming back. Don't cry for me ARFDC, for I truly won't miss any of you shitheads.
Just kidding. I leave for basic tomorrow. I hope the months of May and June are bright and warm for everybody. |
|
Goddamnit dont tease me. I was actually relieved to be rid of you.

Don't let the door hit you in your enlisted ass on the way out Maggot![:)] Thank you for your service.

Keep some change handy for the soda machine, and don't call them "Sir", they prefer "Yo, wasup, fool....[;D]
|
|
Good luck! Be sure to volunteer for EVERYTHING - they love that in a troop.
|
|
Damn, I was ready with a smart ass "take your ball and go home" remark.
Good luck. |
|
Question everything they tell you. That shows the D.I.'s you are a thinking man and not a robot, probably make you an officer or something.
Remember the Lance Corporal motto while in basic training. "Never first, never last, never volunteer." |
|
Good luck, Redmanfms!!
Where are you going to be for basic? Maybe somebody here has the connections to get you some "extra attention" while you're there. [;D] |
|
Invisibility in boot camp is not a bad thing. [wave] all us Jodie's will miss you[;D]

Just one thing before you leave, when they ask you if you can drive any motorized vehicle , just say yes. [:D]

Just remember... Never run when you can walk... Never walk when you can ride... And never stand when you can sit... The military is not for everybody, but it can be a very rewarding experience for those who can hack it. Good luck. Panzer Out |

When you get there, tell 'em I said Hi. I went to basic there in '94, it is a breeze. Just do what you're told, don't talk during chow, and they will leave you alone.
NAVY, good choice!!![:)] |

Quoted: I'm going to Great Lakes, it's the only one the Navy has now. View Quote Hey when they take you to get a dose of tear gas make sure the last guy slams the door extra hard as he goes in. When I went through this would occasionally dislodge an observation window letting gas seep in to the unprotected folks, you won't care at the time but later on you'll laugh your ass off at the memory of your chief and 1st class running for the exit and fighting each other out the door. Probably fixed by now but there was a theory amongst us temp duty pukes that it would never be fixed cause the chamber guys thought it was too much fun watching the PO's freak out. EDITED TO ADD: Good luck man. |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the most important thing he needs to remember:
Don't ask, don't tell. Seriously now, good luck and thanks for your service. cynic |

If your company commander starts to give you and shit you just tell them that you a have a good friend that's a Master Chief Petty Officer (me) and I'll give him what for.
(and when you stop doing push-ups it will be dawn!) Good luck booter! Attitude is everything <--- remember that! |
|
Don't forget to look the drill instructor dead in the face and say "YOU EYEBALLIN ME BOY!"
They love that shit- shows spirit. We will all be thinking of you while we are back on the block, smokin and jokin. Have fun! |
|
The Navy?! What the hell are you gonna do with all that lame ass nuclear training out in the real world when you get out? Man your recruiter fucked you! Probably only earn 6 figures with a bullshit job like that.
All kidding aside. I have been in the aerospace bidness for a long time and they look for Navy experience in their critical systems employees. It is a good thing to have on your resume. |

Unless asked, don't say anything for the first two days. Observe and figure folks out. Also, find out who the shitbags are going to be in your company (can't follow simple commands) and distance yourself. Yes, you will all work as a team and will be punished as a team but you really don't want to keep close company with trouble... it rubs off.
Just a heads up... if you're going nuke you did very well on the ASVAB so there's a good chance they will make you yeoman in your company. It's a good move, just make sure to keep your ducks in a row (always have the correct paperwork, esp. when heading out for chow.. they'll nail ya leaving the galley). Basically, if you watch your CCs butt, he'll watch yours. I ended up being awarded the Navy League Outstanding Recruit Award. Just be aware that there will be some resentment from some other recruits if you do well. Or maybe that was because my company was made up almost exclusively of malicious, insipid females. [;D] Good luck and enjoy! [:D] |

Woohooo!! Now the rest of us can catch up on our post counts. :)

If you you ever get some time out of that place and want to shoot jump on and look me up. IIRC i'm only 45min or so from there, been a while since I've been to GLNB, my uncle was an instructor there, was his last post before he retired from the navy.

Good luck out there bro. Hopefully Ill see you in Charleston some day!

Don't forget to bring extra chem-light batteries and a box of grid squares! [:D]
Good luck! |
