what should I see?  I'll be there for a day and a night, and I'm planning on going out drinkin' that night.  I wouldn't mind seeing some music, maybe bluegrass.  Suggestions?

Ribs, ribs and more ribs. There ain't much bluegrass in Memphis, wrong end of the state. Oh by the way, did I say get some ribs?

You can get Blues and Grass sometimes in the same place but not together. It's been a long time since I've been to Memphis but Beale Street is world renowned for Blues clubs. Check out B.B. Kings Blues Club. Could it get any better than that?

Don't miss Patinum Plus (sp?). Hottest topless bar I've ever been to. The girls get totally naked and have sex on stage and when they give you a couch dance they try to leave you messy.

It's not bluegrass but if you're looking for good music (and lots of hot eye candy) you might want to go to the bar in the Gibson Guitar factory.  It's just south of Beale street and I've never seen a band in there that didn't sound great.
In what part of town will you be staying?  I could probably recommend some good places based on your location.

I'm with Mac on this one . . . PM me also and we'll make a night of it.  I took F15H and hube1236 out when they came in town for the Springfield Challenge.  I'm pretty sure they had a good time . . . well except for hube1236 who I think face-planted when getting out of my truck at the hotel.  But that's to be expected when your night starts off with Cuervo shots.

I agree.  I've met a few of the guys before a fun show at the Fairgrounds but that was damned near a year ago.  I probably wouldn't recognize them.

Thanks for the suggestions, gents.  Mac, E-95, I might take you up on your offers.  I'll be there in the middle of the week, tho, the night of the 7th.

Memphis is a suck-ass tepid shithole that I will never willingly set foot into again.

That said, a drunken night on Beale street is something one should do at least once.

Beale Street is a definite must see. Lots of good clubs (Hard Rock Cafe,Silky Sullivans,
Pat O'briens, B.B. Kings, just to name a few.)

And my favorite place to get ribs is on Beale Street also...The Blues City Cafe. Trust me, I have lived in Memphis my whole life and they are better than the ribs at The Rendezvous.(The Rendezvous is a famous but IMO over-rated
restaurant in downtown Memphis.)

Also we have several nice hotel/casinos nearby in Mississippi. They are all about 30 minutes driving time away from downtown Memphis.

It's probably a matter of taste.  In all honesty, I prefer dry ribs and they're the best in town as far as I'm concerned.  However, I see your point as most folks new to Memphis Barbeque prefer wet and therefore like Blues City, Corky's, Willingham's, etc.
