So, I bought a GoPro Hero 4 Black the other day. It came in the mail  sunday and I couldn't wait to strap it to my kid to see what he does. Trouble is, there was a huge spot on the sensor and, for my purposes it is unusable.

You can clearly see the spot in the upper third of the frame.

Since I bought it from amazon the return/swap process is super easy and I ordered a new one.

That one got here Monday.

While not as obvious, this one has a spot too! Lower third, center frame.

Anyone else with the 4 Black or any other GoPro have this problem? Is it just something that people accept and move on?

Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to take it apart to clean it.

Never seen anything like that.

Hero4 Silver here. Never seen that, and it's horrible.  Take it back again.  That's unacceptable.  Makes me think that batch either had some dust problems, or you bought a used product.

I feel the same way... I bought them directly from Amazon and they are supposed to be new. I could deal with the the spot on the second one if it was strictly for personal use and it was used.

I took it out to day to film in the daylight and it is hardly noticeable. Infect you would probably not see it if you did not know it was there.

Some answers that might help...

Before you take it back, hold it in your right hand and wack your left hand with it a couple times.  See if it disappears.  It could save you the hassle of taking it back again, but for a gopro that's brand new out of the box, it shouldn't have any sensor dust on it at all.

I know you've already mentioned it, but have you given the lens a thorough wiping down with a microfiber cloth?
