My Father & I turned in our applications this weekend to Howard Lodge 101.  My great grandfather was a mason and now my father & I are going to go through together.  Can't wait to get started!

Great Lodge!

Be sure to go by on April 2nd for the open house. It will give you a chance to meet some of the Brothers.

That's fantastic!  Out of respect for your Dad, see if you can schedule his EA degree first, so that he can then sit in Lodge when you do your EA.  It will make him proud.
Advice:  You can find a lot of stuff on-line that will tell you what is going to happen during the degrees.  STAY AWAY FROM IT!  There is naturally a curiosity, but resist.  There is nothing to fear, and it will make your and your dad's experiences with the degrees sooo much better.  Part of the coolness of the whole thing is your first exposure to the mysteries.
Welcome, candidate!

The only thing that I've been truly curious about is if there is anything that I need to do/learn prior to my EA......or if that is basically where it all starts.  That's good advice about my dad being able to sit in on my EA, I'll have to keep that in mind.  Thanks for the welcome guys, it only reaffirms that this is the start of something great!

There is nothing you need to do to be prepared for the EA degree other than DO NOT listen to all the misguided advice you will get from friends (discounting this site).
Do as you are instructed, to the "T" and listen to what is said during the degree.

Congrats to you and your Dad for taking the first step in Masonry,it will be one of the most rewarding things you have ever done.

Just relax, trust and enjoy.  You are getting ready to experience a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  When you are done, especially after your Masters, you will almost experience a letdown, when you realize that was the only time.  However, it's fantastic to witness, and particularly to participate in, other candidates' degrees.  It will bring your degrees into focus.  Assuming your dad goes before you, he should ask the lodge if he can sit in the South for your degree.  The part is easy to learn, and you both will enjoy participating in it together.
Learning the EA work can be a task for some, easy for others, but rewarding for all.
Keep us posted, and welcome!
