http://cbsnews.com/now/story/0,1597,321552-412,00.shtml AP (CBS) Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera, who couldn't bear being away from the action in Afghanistan, was hundreds of miles from the site of a friendly fire incident he reported on, the Baltimore Sun said in a Dec. 15 report. Rivera reported in a Dec. 6 piece that he became emotional and choked up while standing on the "hallowed ground" in Afghanistan where "friendly fire took so many of our, our men and the mujahedeen yesterday." Rivera said he had recited the Lord's Prayer. But, according to a report on the Baltimore Sun's Internet site, Rivera admitted that he was several hundred miles from the site - outside Kandahar - where three Americans were killed on Dec. 5 by an errant U.S. bomb. In an interview on Tuesday, Rivera said he had confused the Kandahar deaths with another "friendly fire" incident that cost several Afghan lives in Tora Bora. But, according to the Sun, Pentagon information shows the Tora Bora incident occurred at least three days after Rivera's Dec. 6 report. Rivera quit his talk show on CNBC to become a war correspondent for the Fox News Channel in November. He said at the time he couldn’t bear to stay on the sidelines during a big story. He generated some controversy among fellow correspondents for boasting of carrying a gun while on the news beat in the war-torn country. One Associated Press correspondent said in a letter to the Poynter Institute that it was dangerous for journalists to brag about being armed in a war zone. Three Army Green Berets were killed and 20 other Americans were wounded Wednesday, Dec. 5, when an Air Force B-52 dropped a one-ton bomb near them. The soldiers had called in the air strike to hit Taliban forces they were fighting near the militia's southern stronghold of Kandahar. Five anti-Taliban Afghan fighters also were killed and another 18 were wounded. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld ordered an investigation into the mistaken bombing. The Pentagon identified those killed as Master Sgt. Jefferson Donald Davis, 39, of Watauga, Tenn.; Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Petithory, 32, of Cheshire, Mass.; and Staff Sgt. Brian Cody Prosser, 28, of Fraizer Park, Calif. All were members of the Army's 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. See link for more

Gee, Geraldo lying to make himself look good and sell airwaves?? You don't say. I'm still hopeful for a tunnel collapse. Do our troops know about this? I bet a little "friendly fire" incident can be arraigned. LAter.

Geraldo just can't stand not being the center of attention. This guy claims he has a gun for self-protection but to an anti-gunner he is probably is a danger to himself because he probably doesn't know the difference between a buttstock and broomstick.

Its getting to the point that the other Fox on air talent- and especally Shephard Smith- can barely speek his name to introduce him without cracking a smirk. And of course the other outlets are all over everything that Gerry does wrong, they love to take cracks at Fox since Fox is killing them in the ratings wars.

Oh no, brother. The best part is that Jerry Rivers IS an anti-gunner. When it comes to you and I, anyway. Just like California Assemblyman Don Perata, CA CHL holder and author or cosponsor of just about every piece of antigun legsislation in the CA Assembly in the last few years.

WTF!!!!!!! why do I have to do this,I hate that lil. commie butt head....................... Anyway, that is not what he said. On Dec. 6th. on Hannity & Colmes he was asked about the friendly fire incident and he said that it really hit home with he cuz there was another incident like it where he was,and that was the incident that he said the Lord's Prayer. There is a very good point to this hole thing, the commies are so bad that even one of there own will be blasted to make a point. Geraldo is now part ofthe evile Fox News team where some people think the same way as dumb a$$ mr.& miss. America and not like all the over stuffed pin heads that run the other net works.

Merry Christmas. I hate to be un charitable. I really do. But I must confess something here. When I heard that brother Geraldo was heading to Afghanistan, one thought crossed my sick little mind. I had an image of him standing with a mic in his hand and getting hit in the side of his furry little head with a round. (and getting that preppie/commie/liberal/hypocritical little smile wiped off his face) (for good) I thought at the time what a merry little Yule it would make if this would happen. I am not proud of it. But that's as may be. Merry Christmas And by the way, ......... yes I would laugh my ass off. (as I said, I'm not particularly proud of it) But it would be funny. Zen This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine

Geraldo thinks he's Wayne Gale, and we all know what happened to Wayne Gale from who he thought were his friends.

I surprised I even opened a thread entitled "Geraldo caught in a lie." That's about as compelling and surprising as "Fish caught in net." Now if the thread was called "Geraldo caught in a truth!" Well, that would be surprising.
