Governor asks public schools to close Monday, Tuesday

Public schools in the Walker County and Chickamauga school systems will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

During a conference call Friday with school superintendents across the state, Gov. Sonny Perdue has requested public schools to close on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 26-27, to conserve energy.

A spokeswoman from Perdue’s office said the school closings are one of several measures statewide to conserve energy.
