Guys hoping for some help here.  A good friend has this six circut transfer switch in his house.

It states its good for 20 amps and 5000 watts.

My friend has a 5000 watt generator with a 30 amp twist lock outlet on it.  Can he hook it up using an 30 to 20 adapter or is this dangerous?

Thanks

Bill

He should be fine. I would recomend using a 10/4 cord and as short as possible (10-15 feet).

It's fine.  He can replace the inlet with a 30 amp one if he wants to.

I think home depot even sells an adapter from 20-30 with a breaker built into it
