I noticed that Mattis is on the board of directors of Theranos, the scam-ish medical test company that's falling apart after being super hyped up for a couple years: link. Since he has zero medical or start up background and Theranos was angling for huge military contracts it smacks of influence peddling.
A little Googling finds these leaked emails: Link
In the emails, Holmes asked Mattis — who had expressed interest in Theranos’ blood-testing technology when the two met in 2011 — to intervene in the FDA inquiry. Within hours of Holmes’ request, according to the Post, Mattis emailed other military officials asking “how do we overcome this new obstacle.” In the email, Mattis noted that he had tried to get Theranos technology “tested in theater asap, legally and ethically.” Although the field testing Mattis had backed never took place and he retired from the military in May 2013, he was subsequently named to Theranos’ board of directors in 2014. Mattis is kick ass on the battlefield, but at first glance what transpired between Mattis and Theranos smells exactly like the kind of corruption that has made military spending such a clusterfuck and just contributed to getting Trump elected. |

I have to agree. After seeing what transpired with Theranos I question the man's judgment on domestic matters, not to diminish from his clear willingness and ability to bring truckloads of whoopass to a foreign enemy. |
