Anyone have any experience with 'em?

I had been looking at HP's lately.  I went to gateway and looked at some of thier prices.  Not bad for what ya get.  I wish they had AMD's in thier comps though.

We do have a local gateway outlet too.

thanks

Avoid HP at all costs. They use their cheap prices to lure in unsuspecting buyers. I had 2 HP desktops so far and I'm not happy. I will be shopping for a different brand soon.

Don't do it, their customer service is one of the worst if not the worst of the larger manufacturers.

Hmmm........interesting.  Would love to have an IBM but they are too expensive.  Customer service is very important too.  Dell has good support but thier comps suck azz.  My inspiron finally sh*t the bed today.  I'm ready for another comp.

I may drive over to the gateway outlet tomorrow and check 'em out.

I have a Solo 2150. Battery lasted 13 months.(warranty was for 12) The design of the "lid" is BAD! A stress point on either side of the hinge. It started to split @ about 13 months! Multiple layers of super glue has kept it in check. Looks like hell though. Other than that it's been perfect! I'll probably trade this one in on another one. A fiiend at work just go one and its VERY nice.

I was looking at them on thier website a few minutes ago.  They look real nice.

THIS time i am gonna get the extended warranty on a notebook.  I will either get the 2 or 3 year.  I think the 2 year is like $100.  The 3 is $150.

I'm typing this on my year old Gateway Solo 9500.  I have had zero problems with the computer and Gateway was very easy to deal with when I ordered it.

My wife has been using a company-supplied Solo 9300 for almost two years now and she's had a couple of problems with hers.  Her keyboard had to be replaced a few months after she got it.  It was replaced quickly and has been fine in the year and a half since.  She's having a problem now where the battery isn't holding a charge.  I've seen this often in laptops from all companies after they've been used hard for 2 or 3 years.  If her company will just order a replacement battery she'll be back in business.

I am replying with a 600 series lap top. I have only had it a few weeks, but no problems. I have had 2 Gateway desk tops, and each of my kids have one. No real problems, some software issues, but I have found their support to be really great, even when I have had one of their machines for years, upgraded to the max, and am running a different OS than it was sold with. They have always helped me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Did you know that the screens on laptops (LCD, TFT) like the one with the bullet hole in it are the most expensive part of the laptop itself? They can range from 800-1,200 bucks.

A couple of my friends have Toshiba Satellite laptops and they seem to be really good.

Had a Solo briefly. Defective. That was my 3rd attempt to buy a Gateway. All 3 were defective. The Dell desktop I bought in 99 has performed well.
