Do I need to do anything special for an undersink garbage disposal? Never use it, but I'm wondering if I should run/flush it once in awhile?

I would at least run hot water through it every once in awhile and exercise the motor.  I don't think it would go bad if you don't but I am a fan of keeping things running through the motions.

You should run something through it every now and then.  I've heard of running half a lemon down through it as one way to do this - smells good, pushes debris through.

If you don't use it regularly, it will collect food debris which will start to rot.

I keep a metal strainer over mine to catch most debris.  I want as little solid material in my waste line as I can manage.

once every month put a tray of ice cubes in it and let it run, add water and let it drain. Thats all I ever do.

I recently replaced ours and the manual specifically stated to not run hot water and the garbage disposal at the same time. Doesn't say why though.

It can overheat the motor.  My old one would get hot and pop some kinda thermal reset button on the bottom.  I would have to cool it then reset it when it did it.

Great way to clog the line.
You think it can make coffee ground any smaller?
