Hi all,

I have a new Ruger GP100 that i am experiencing a problem with. Sometimes the cylinder doesn't index and I can spin it in either direction when the hammer is down. when the hammer is back i can spin the cylinder freely in one direction and it stops over the chamber in the other direction.

Is there an easy fix for this or should I send it in under warranty repair? It only has 225 rds through it.

Thanks!

I'm with those guys. If you're not familiar enough with the revolver, it's easier to let Ruger deal with it.

you DEFINITELY need to send that back to Ruger before any more rounds are put through it.......

sounds like the cylinder bolt is not engaging the cylinder notch

Is that the half moon shaped piece of metal that interfaces with the bottom of the cylinder?

Yes, the cyl latch is not locking in place.

Call Ruger, they will email you a shipping label and the driver will pick it up. It wont cost you anything.

Mine did the same thing, they replaced the cylinder and pawl.

It does, I can dry fire it all day and it won't happen.  It happened a few times today while shooting though, it is intermittent.  I emailed Ruger requesting an RMA.  Thanks again everyone for your advice.

If it is spinning both ways the Hand and Bolt have issues.  I would take it apart and clean it well.  Look for burrs or carbon build up.  Oil and put it back together and see if it works.

Ruger Revolvers are easy to take apart.

You won't learn much by sending it back without taking it apart and figuring out what is wrong first.

That's true. I'll pull it apart myself for a look see.

But..but..but Rugers are bulletproof....strong like bull.  This is impossible.

<–––– Sent six NIB Rugers back the factory for bullshit before swearing them off as junk.  They are one bump above Taurus.

A friend of mine has his Ruger .480 back at the factory due to two chambers not bored correctly.

Rugers are hella-tough, but they're not always perfect.

Good luck.

I read GP100 and problem in the same sentence, thought it was a troll thread. Send it to ruger they have great costumer service they will make it right.
