Anyone else think the GOP is imploding?

Irregardless of political stance, the level of dissent is amazing. Different factions within the GOP seem to be fighting. Take a look at the teaparty revolutionaries.

WTF is Cruz thinking?????

Current disfunction is going to hurt them in the mid-terms.

As much as I hate to think, the dems could win back the house, keep the senate and white house. If this happens, imagine the ensuing butthurt!

I don't know about imploding, but they're certainly leaderless.  Given all the massive scandals surrounding the democrats, they should be tearing them to shreds left & right, but it's simply not happening.

Unless they can find some new direction soon, the democrats will have Hillary as a lock for next PotUS.  Doesn't matter that the democrats have no real direction either; they have the FSA vote and it's going to take a lot to overcome that.

We can only hope they are imploding.   The GOP needs a purging badly.  The RNC needs to call the McCains, Grahams, McConnells, etc. into the office and put them on notice that the next time they side with Obama or the Democrats, they will not receive money or support for their re-election bids.  This should have started fifteen years ago.

It NEEDS to implode. Way to many higher up's in it that will do anything, make any compromise, give Omama aid and comfort and sell out their voters to remain in their seats of power. It's GOOD to disagree and fight with your party leaders when they have lost their way. To do anything less means the whole party stands the chance of having the base walk away from them and losing their votes in perpetuity. There are some very good people in the Republican party and there are some very crooked power grubbing scumbags at the top that care not a whit for what their voters want.

I would say the GOP is quite happy where it is now. They are not feeling any repercussions of their governing or their fratricide.

You've been watching too much MSNBC.

There are definitely two distinct types of republicans.  There are the Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee types on one end and John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Peter King types on the other side.  I believe that McCain, King, or Graham would/will endorse Hillary Clinton if Rand Paul is the R nominee in 2016.  These types of R's disgust me to no end.

If the R party doesn't quickly and publicly embrace an ideology of substantially smaller, Constitutionally limited gov't, more freedom/liberty, and less intervention overseas and in people's private lives, they will (and should) go the way of the Whigs.

Cruz, Rubio and Lee(perhaps other senators too) didn't want any heat on them, so they punted back to the House. The whole point of this was to point the ball in Obama's court and on the Senate.

Since Cruz has been big pushing for the defunding of Obamacare, ginning up the base and so on, Republican House members are raising holy hell because now he turns tail before the Senate fight even begins...

Disfunction is going to hurt them, witness Boehner and the House leadership putting together a plan with conservatives(an accomplishment given the recent tensions) to put pressure on Obama and the Senate, but a few Republican senators balking and screwing up the narrative.

It would require a disaster on par with 2006 for the Democrats to retake the House though.

This.  They are faaaar from imploding, but the severe lack of leadership And direction is what has cost us the last two elections.
The dems dont need to do anything; we are doing it all ourselves.
Add to the fact that conservatives may split the vote Rep-Lib it will guarentee an easy win for the Dems again.
We need one conservative party we can all get under, with a solid candidate (not some fuddy duddy like Mitt or McStain)
and we stand a shot.   If Christie gets nominated, fuck it, im moving to Canada.

I wouldn't say imploding, but there needs to be change in the GOP. America isn't behind most of the GOP. Tea Party just fractures the base. It sure seems men like Ted Cruz are the future of the party. I am happy to be able to vote for him.

When the Republicans have held power they have refused to do anything to enhance and perpetuate their power.

Democrats have no such reservations.

Republicans think they can win by playing nice.

Democrats play as dirty as possible.

Republicans advocate opportunity and self-sufficiency.

Democrats buy FSA votes with Republicans' money.

The Republican party is going the way of  the Whig party:

In its two decades of existence, the Whig Party had two of its candidates, William Henry Harrison and Zachary Taylor, elected President.

Both died in office. John Tyler succeeded to the Presidency after Harrison's death but was expelled from the party.

Millard Fillmore, who became President after Taylor's death, was the last Whig to hold the nation's highest office.

The party was ultimately destroyed by the question of whether to allow the expansion of slavery to the territories. With deep fissures in the party on this question, the anti-slavery faction prevented the re-nomination of its own incumbent President Fillmore in the 1852 presidential election; instead, the party nominated General Winfield Scott.

Most Whig party leaders thereupon quit politics (as Abraham Lincoln did temporarily) or changed parties. The northern voter base mostly joined the new Republican Party. By the 1856 presidential election, the party was virtually defunct. In the South, the party vanished . . .

The old school GOP would rather be powerless and secure in DC than be in power and insecure. They are used to the comforts and perks without having to worry about what we unwashed peons care about. This worked well for over 40 years with basically center Dems until the leftists arrived. Both parties were genetically similar in the nineteen forties through the eighties. It was easy to get along when you worked in the same factory, attended the same church, kids played on the same football team. That's not happening now. No shared history, family, culture, or even language.  With Bubba came the schism where the left became relevant (MINORITIES) in the D without losing its old school right wing faction. The coalition steamrolled the old school Rs. Bubba C could play both sides. His big losses were because of Hillary showing who she really was and his lifestyle. The combination of race remorse, poor R choices, ignorant 20 somethings (public schools) put a true Marxist in power. The party divides are way too huge now for any compromise. One thing about dictators I've learned (and he is one) is they know how to hold on to power. They accomplish it by eliminating any opposition.

Another day, another Moby anti-GOP troll thread.

And the real leaders of the GOP are Governors like Scott Walker, Rick Snyder, Rick Perry, Bobby Jindhal, Jan Brewer, Sam Brownback.  The seniority-run Country Club at the national level needs to be turned out (and will be as decent Primary challengers rise from the ranks).
