I recently bought a new laptop.....
With winter coming on , I decided to break out some old games that I like. Specifically Pacific Storm , and Super Power. Neither work on the laptop. Even though these games are a decade or more older, is their not running still a symptom of the laptop not having enough power? Ive ran the compatibility program on both and got nothing. Dazzle me with your geekness and help me pass the next 9 months of winter

Quoted: No they werent. Will check Gog and Steam...Im assuming ill need an account there? Quoted: Quoted: Were they DOS based games? There are lots of DOS emulators out there Dosbox is one. If not, there may be a compatible version available on GoG.com or via Steam. No they werent. Will check Gog and Steam...Im assuming ill need an account there? |

Any relatively new PC should be able to play 10 year old games if they are compatible with the OS. You can probably buy both of those games on Steam for super cheap and I bet they would work. Games came out during the XP era. Running the compatibility program to run them in XP yielded jack and shit

Malicious , damn , everything was set off by that site ! Your detector is broken. There is nothing wrong with that site. WOT says, "The site has an excellent reputation based on user ratings, and it is suitable for children." ETA: It has also been linked and discussed on ARF a number of times. |

Do the games from steam have people keep them up to date for current systems? Pretty much. There has been enough changes to the way Windows works that some of the game code just needs to be reworked to run properly on a more modern OS. Both Steam and GOG have done this. Its a lot easier to just buy the games from one of them for a few dollars than to spend the time and effort looking for a workaround that will work, if one even exists. |
