I have always heard about printing movable gears, bearing, parts, ect. with a 3D printer, here's what we just printed a few minutes ago.
It's ALL printed together, NO assembly NOT my file/design , but it's a planetary gear set, with herringbone shaped teeh on the gears, so it provides somewhat of a thrust bearing with the design. Pretty cool Planetary gear set |

Very Cool!, Got to love the water-soluble "ink" that goes between the gears. Just wait until we can get ceramic-based "inks," that can withstand extreme heat, or carbon, nano-filament "inks" that are super strong. 3D Printing is the stepping stone from the Guttenberg Press to the Star Trek Replicator!!! Food printing is already widespread; just think of a self-serve fountain soda dispenser. The first step is to reconsider what "ink" is. |
