No, my friends family owns a sea food factory and freezer here on the cost of MS. They store about 7 million lbs. of shrimp in the freezer.

Should have seen all the shrimp everywhere after Katrina.

I'm a restaurant cook, usually look at the package when I'm using it, seems to always come from south east Asia

ETA Sure it's a cost thing, as the regulations aren't as strict as they are here in the States.

I'm gonna need a tanker truck full of propane, every large pot in the Gulf area, half a ton of Old Bay, and another tanker truck full of cocktail sauce.

I always make sure I bring a cooler with me when I head to Louisiana.  You don't get 16-20s for $4 lb. when you're land locked.  Gulf shrimp are the best I've ever had.

Don't ever buy shrimp that has sodium tripolyphosphate added to it. Always check the ingredients label to make sure it's only shrimp.

People actually eat frozen shrimp?

I don't even bother using it for bait.  The fish won't eat it.

Impossible––The BP oil spill ruined everything for ever––didn't you see the MSNBC reports?

I remember the first time I ate fresh shrimp.  I was very surprised there was so much difference between fresh and frozen.
