All I want to know is who chooses what the fuck to commemorate for their logo. I know this has been re-hashed here again and again, but really, why does some of this shit make the cut, but something like September 11th doesn't? Fuck these fucking fucks. What a bunch of douche canoes.

The simple solution: use the search bar in your browser and don't look at the homepage.

I haven't seen Google's homepage in months, and I don't really care to.

They could make a goatse logo and it wouldn't deter me from using them because in my opinion it's still the best search engine out there.

dogpile is worthless for quality results.  Some searches, such as looking for technical support for different products, just give you a bunch of options for ebay auctions and where to buy it on Amazon, where as google will give you quality results relevant to your search terms.

To the OP, I don't understand it either, some of them are just silly, but it doesn't bother me I guess.  They give me the results I want :)

LOL oh god please no goatse!

Still shows the picture on my computer on the results page even if I use the search bar in my browser.

False.

It actually uses google, bing, and some others, filters for best results, and shows you the most relevant items.

Nope, compare the same search side by side, the results are nowhere near the quality of any one of those sites by itself.

Wells was an outspoken socialist and a pacifist, and his later works became increasingly political and didactic.
