| Trying to get more turkey on the property. What is a good recommended seed to use in a food plot for turkey only? I've got the land, I've got the deer but don't have the turkeys. I'm thinking maybe a acre of clover. |

Will chufa grow in your area? Contact your local chapter of the NWTF. They'll give you good advice and you can get free/discounted seed from them, at least here. |

We got the deer covered with Evolve Harvest and turnups. Not sure about chufa but will check into it. The deer have our permission to munch on some clover also. |

Food plots arent the answer in most scenarios. You need to cull the predators, especially coons. possums and skunks which most often destroy nest. You need safe roosting areas. Water holes that aren't ideal for predator ambush. Have transition zones.....poults need open, semi open grass/brushland leading tothe woods. Turkey are gonna travel you need cooperation among land owners.
Now you can grow many native small seeded woodland type weeds that will feed turkey and not be great draws for big game, but often this is already abdundant if you gave native focused plants with transition zones. |
