Heading to Kansas today with my AR, any issues with carrying my ACOG in my carry-on?

Rifle will, of course, be checked.

Thanks!!

Shouldn't be, but you can never predict what the TSA will do.  I had an 19th century antique hand vise that they said could be used as a weapon.  I asked about a roll of quarters and they said that was OK.

Count on the half-wits at the gate giving you a hard time.

I purchased an IOR scope while in Vegas.  TSA said I could not carry it on because it was a firearm part.  I had to dash back to check in and check the bag.  While the TSA folks you encounter could be different, I will never take that chance again, as the consequences could be costly.

Meh, it's so cheap, why not just chance it?

If TSA says it is a rifle part you won't be able to carry it on the plane. Put it in the rifle's case.

TREETOP tried to carry a stock for an AR on the plane and he ran into all kind of problems

I carried LaRue rails and an Aimpoint T-1 on a flight last year, no problems.

You never know what TSA will do, though.

I would put it in your rifle case. TSA might or might not care, but if they DO care, you may lose one expensive piece of glass.

We just got back from FL and the TSA said my daughter could not bring on a lump of modeling clay.  It went to FL without issue.  On both trips I got on with a swiss tool key/knife on my key ring.

You can never tell what they will or won't let on.  If you try be prepared to be rejected.

Depends on the airport and the TSA fuck wad that is screening you. In TX, NM, AZ, and ID I can fly with all kinds of shit I can't from CA, NY, or VA. I get SSSS every and I do mean EVERY time I fly. Twice a month at least. Of course I am usually piss drunk as I hate flying. I would say FEDEX overnight it to yourself. I do that all the time. I tell the Hilton or whatever to bring me my package when it comes in and tip the front desk guy 50 bucks. Easy. Sometimes the package beats me, so call ahead if you get delayed. Hold the package in the town you are going to in that case and pick it up.

I took a Leupold in my carry on.   They pulled my bag aside after going through the machine. The guy asked "if I had a flashlight or something in my bag?"

I said "No, it is a rifle scope"   He replied "That is what I thought it was"  & cleared me through.

I'm just going to stick it in the case.

I had planned on going carry-on due to limited space in the case (Benelli M2 shotgun, AR, mags, ammo, knives, tools, etc. in a Pelican 1700) but it just ain't worth it.  Case is jammed full of pheasant and 'yote hunting goodness!
