the law
the article In April Florida Governor Rick Scott approved a ban on slot machines and Internet cafes after a charity tied to Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll was shut down on suspicion of being an Internet gambling front -- forcing Carroll, who had consulted with the charity, to resign. Florida's 1,000 Internet cafes were shut down immediately, including Miami-Dade's Incredible Investments, LLC, a café that provides online services to migrant workers, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The owner, Consuelo Zapata, is now suing the state after her legal team found that the ban was so hastily worded that it can be applied to any computer or device connected to the Internet, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by The Miami Herald. The ban defines illegal slot machines as any "system or network of devices" that may be used in a game of chance. And that broad wording can be applied to any form of computer, according to the Miami law firm of Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, who worked with constitutional law attorney and Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz. Making everyone a criminal, one state at a time. Attacking the architecture of free speech is a bonus. When called on it, they will plead that technical illiteracy makes them unaccountable. This was passed by a majority Republican House, majority Republican Senate, and signed by a Republican governor. |

What's worth noting here is that this was a hasty, shittily-worded law was passed as a knee-jerk response to a problem that was only really a problem because it made some politician look bad. and was immediately used by law enforcement to shut down a whole sector of businesses that were providing legitimate services to customers. |

"Limited government" my aching white ass. Lately? You need a kick in your lily white ass if you think the reblubs aren't as freedom hating as democraps. They choose to use the guise of patriotism to pull off their bullshit.

Yeah, instead lets bury our head in the sand and ignore the problems with the Republican Party. I mean, it isn't like the Democrats are going to use this against them. Republican strategy has been working so well lately... |

Damn, Rick Scott seems to be a big fan of casting out a wide net in efforts to make his entire state felons. I am of course speaking about the BULLSHIT law he passed that made carrying bongs or pipes a felony. Than again, I must be a dumb "doper" rather than someone who takes civil rights seriously.
Christ Florida, there has got to be a better man than Scott. |

Sigh...and of course we being an "enlightened" society can not allow them to starve in the cold (lol FL) because they are fools. Of course I don't consider that to be enlightened at all, because an enlightened individual sees that it breeds either more government or dependent fools
But what do I know...it isn't like my observations are 100% true or anything. |
