I am on my way to Florida, specifically the Ft. Lauderdale area, for work. I would like to know the basics of Florida Law for concealed carry, I have my Texas License, but I would like to know if there are any idiosyncrasies in the law that I should be aware of. Also any inoformation about the area would be appreciated. I don't know exactly where we'll be, we have a travel trailer that we'll be staying in to be close to the work. But any good restaurants or points of interest would be great. I am getting ready to get on the road now so I'll try to check the site from any hotspots I encounter. Thanks, 96Ag |

Firstly as a life long resident of Broward County, I offer you a sincere welcome to the For CCW info online you pretty much cant beat the link that F4YR posted. For restaurants and points of interest, a great place to start would be Ft.Lauderdale riverwalk and Las Olas Bvd. Lots of shops (most are kind of pricey) but the restaurants are a good value for the $$. Is this a permanent move or are you just going to be here doing a job then back to TX? Feel free to drop in and say hi to some of the local shooters at www.floridashootersnetwork.com echo6 |

Thanks, guys. I am and independent insurance adjuster, so this move is temporary. We have found a place to park our trailer in Palm Beach Gardens and so far my claims are in the Palm Beach area with an occasional office visit to Ft. Lauderdale. I appreciate the help with packing.org and the riverwalk info. I don't know how long we'll be here but hopefully I can get some shooting in while I'm here. 96Ag |
| Welcome to South Florida. Packing.org is great for the info you need. Most people are fine, but try to pay attention to where you are and what's happening around you ; basic situational awareness. Neighborhoods can change radically within a street or two, so try not to get too pre-occupied with what your doing. The "good old days" of the cocaine cowboys/shootouts are long-gone ... for the most part. IM me if you'll be further South in Miami/Coral Gables. You did bring a street-enabled GPS didn't you? Stay safe. |
