Can I use Windows Movie Maker with no loss of quality?

If not what is a good alternative camera for indoor youtube videos, outdoor shooting footage, family home movies, casual but decent still images, and maybe a short film.  Price has to be comparable to the flip.

I was going to buy one of those Flip cameras for the lake, but then I read the reviews on Newegg, they were less than favorable.  

As for alternatives I have no idea.
