Any recommendations for a sim or hardware setup to supplement private pilots training? I currently own Microsoft Flightsim 2002, and X-Plane version 8.0. I'm also hoping on getting the CH Products rudder pedals and yoke.

I know that this isn't going to add any hours to my log or whatever, but I'm just looking for anything that might help me be a better pilot.

FS9 is about as real as it gets

Tons and tons of free add ons, including aircraft, scenery, nav aids, etc.

I'm a bit of a helo fanatic and have the payware SeaHawk, but I have yet to try another flightsim to see how well others might model helos compared to FS9.

Excuse my ignorance, but is FS9 some sort of patch or add on to FS2004? I do plan on upgrading my FS program but I have to make sure my computer can run it.

Sierra Pro Pilot gives all Instruments in real time in correlation to your maneuvers. I have actualy learned to fly with it before I took pilot training and it took about 8 hours of actual time off my learning curve.

I just bought a new Logitech Joystick too. I'll have to try that out. I wonder if they will have the entire Continental US mapped. Could you imagine a massive multiplayer flightsim like Flight Sim 10? Please note I don't know if it will be multiplayer, I'm just saying what if.

I see no reason why the CONUS wouldn't be mapped.  Since I can remember it's always been done.  Hell, the entire world is as far as I know.  You can bet it has multiplayer as well.  If not I'll be shocked.

I'm going to look the info up on that one.  I hope my payware aircraft will be compatible.

It will be multiplayer…

There is supposed to be multiplayer flying and a multiplayer feature that allows players to be a air-traffic controller for other players.

I just crashed the plane into my house since it didn't have any bombs to use :)
