Just getting back in RC. In the past I used mostly 1/10th scale stuff. I've found that the 1/8th scale stuff is built better and more forgiving when bashing. Spent most of the day yesterday building this. It's a Team Associated RC8B3.1E. It will be running a Castle Mamba Monster X with a 2200kv motor 18t pinion 44t spur (still have to install the ESC). Savox waterproof servo, Futaba 4PLS radio/receiver combo. Mostly 4s battery maybe the occasional 6s. Attached File

Won't be here until late October or so.
I've been hoping Tamiya would do a 1/16th Abrams kit for awhile. Just have to wait now |

Here's some from when I use to fly RC. Got out of it because of 4 kids an no time to fly. My building skills far exceeded my flying skills.
80" Chipmunk Attached File Weeks Solution I built from a kit. It was just big enough to meet IMAA requirements. A friend bought it and covered it and flew it until it met an unexpected demise. Attached File I took those plans and blew them up to 80" wingspan. Attached File Attached File Bridi Big Bee with OS FT300 twin cylinder Attached File 80" Extra 300. Had a guy buy it before I was done with it. Attached File Some of my early collection. 1/4 scale Sig cub was covered with cloth like the real thing. Attached File Now I build plastic models. Here's a few. Mostly 1/32 aircraft. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I literally had 50 or 60 of those Hagesawa TA-4 kits when I was a about 14 or 15. A relative purchased a shot ton of them for a school project and gave me the overstock. (Teachers building models). I built a few, but I have no clue where the rest went after my parents split and the move. |

Looks great! But it's so tiny!
|
|
Or maybe I have really small hands?
I don't think my skills are ready for 1/32nd scale. |

@Colt_sporter thanks for the suggestion on this thread!
Cross posting the models my daughter has built the last 2 years for 4H. The quality sucks a bit from my cell phone. Maybe I can get some decent pictures with the wife's Nikon. She did a majority of the work putting them together and all of the painting and decal work. I did some of the finer details and really small parts, including the engine on the L-4. Man that was tough to get just right! Good thing the picture is fuzzy to hide some of my own defects. Attached File Attached File She built the A-10 when she was 9, and it is her favorite military plane. The cool thing was the model kit was actually the tail number of a female pilot and my daughter thought that was really cool! She built the L-4 when she was 10, and the J-3 is her favorite civilian plane (mine too). I flew a lot with my grandpa in his yellow J-3, and she saw this L-4 at a local fly-in last year and thought it was really cool. I want my uncle to take her up in Grandpa's J-3 sometime so she can experience that thrill first hand. Just have to convince the wife.... Attached File |

Convince the wife? Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Just saying.
