Just started watching Firefly. It's gorram goood so far. Give me the registered companion and saffron at the same time.

I think they put it in a difficult time slot, or something. hell some shows with a lot of watchers still get the axe if they are not hitting the mark they want. dvd/bluray sales of it were high enough to help get the movie made, then hardly anyone went to see it. I think it is a great Scifi film.
They also aired the episodes out of order, and not all of them got shown before being cancelled. |

The ratings sucked. That's why FOX cancelled it.
'Course, FOX aired it at 8pmEST on Friday night, which is well known as a "death slot". It was also pre-empted a few times by baseball games and such, so you really didn't know when it would be on. And, they aired the episodes out of order. The two hour pilot episode, y'know the one that sets up the entire story? They aired it last. 
You do know about the follow up movie, Serenity, right? |

Discovered it long after it was cancelled though. Bought the DVDs of the series and the movie, which we binge watch once a year or so.
