Just a note of "thanks" to you guys who are fans of Firefly. Got interested in the thread, rented the series from Netflix and got "hooked"! Got one more disc to view but I did buy the series on DVD One Hellva series, but like all the T.V. shows I really like, it got cancelled. Anyway, thanks again guys.

It's the best series I've seen in many years- one of my all time favorites.

I hate that they cancelled it.

I'm now holding out hope that my kids will see a resurgence and spin offs in 20 years like they did with Star Trek.

No reason they couldn't go the movie sequels route.

Even if it's a made for cable movie like what Stargate's done with thier movie spinoffs would be cool by me.

By the way after your done with series don't forget to watch the movie wrapup sequel "Serenity"

you might want to check out "Space: Above and Beyond". Another cool series that got cancelled.

Considering they killed off some of the main characters in the only movie they made I'd have to say its not going to happen.

You are welcome...now go watch Serenity when you finish the last DVD.

I'm to the point where I'm fine if there never is any new Firefly and let it go out on a high note.

Although, there is part of me hoping that The Avengers will be a blockbuster and someone decides to give Whedon a blank check to do whatever he wants.

It's a pity the movie was a financial dud.

Actually, the first exposure I had to this series was the movie. At that time I didn't realize there was a T.V. series until you guys started talking about it. I've seen the film a couple times probably end up buying it as well..

Yeah it was a dud at the box office because a lot of future fans weren't aware of the series until we heard about it on the internetz. Poor marketing, support, and a insufficient budget for the scale they were trying to protray. In the 90's and early 10's(?) I was working mostly nights, so I missed out alot on cool shows and had to discover them a few years later on DVD.

Star Trek Enterprise was another decent Sci-Fi series that got cancelled just as it was getting pretty good. It was much better than DS9 or Voyager in my opinion.

Farscape is another excellent Sci-Fi show you might want to check out. You can pick up the entire series (4 seasons I believe) on DVD for around $35 to $40 (edit:oops, price has gone up to around $45.00 to $50.00 dollars since I got it) bucks. Well worth it. If you do, don't forget the movie wrap up to the series "Peace Keeper Wars" sold seperatly for around $10 bucks.

Hell, I'm convinced that 97% of Universal's marketing plan was to let the fanbase create "buzz" for it.

Sorry to derail, but in the vein of cancelled TV series, who here liked "Kings"?

There was another SF seriew somewhat along the lines of Firefly it delt with a mixed crew on a spaceship but it appeared about the same time as Babylon 5 and only lasted half a season. I just can't think of the name of the series, I was just getting into it when they cancelled it. Ended up staying with Babylon 5.

Post the name of series if you remember it. Might be worth checking out. Alot of cool aborted T.V. series are coming out on DVD now. They can be good value as far as price vs. quantity goes, so series like these I tend to purchase. Keeps me entertained longer so I can spend my money on other things.

This is the order (favorite to least favorite) of the Sci Fi tv shows I have watched.

Firefly, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Caprica, BSG, Farscape.

Firefly is just a freaking awesome show, I really wish we had another season or 5.

If you have Amazon Prime, I believe Firefly is streaming free.
