My dept. has just added a new position----Full time Firearms Instructor!!!

I have 15 years on, and have been an Instructor for approximately 10 of those. as well as being an FTO, general instructor.

I just wanted to get any thoughts on what I should say to these jokers to seal the deal!!!

Well I didn't get the gig, but I am pleasently pleased when my Capt. said "Son you just don't seem like an admin type of guy".

I replied "You mean I don't smile in your face while planning to stab you in the back, I question authority when we are doing something that doesn't make sense, or is it that I actually care about  the health and well-being of each and everyone of my co-workers and I don't care what it takes to do the job right."

He replied "All of the above".

I was really bumbed about not getting the position, but I enjoy being a thorn in the side of each and every set of bars in my dept.

Too bad you did not get the position.  On the other hand it appears that you have not lost sight of what is important, getting the job done.  I have dealt with several administrations in my career.  Some liked what I had to offer in the training arena, and some didn't.  The largest metropolis department that I worked for had okay training, but it came down to budgetary issues mostly.  My last Chief hated training, meaning he did not like to train himself, so when he became Chief he started cutting training all together, it is too bad that patrol had to suffer.  My current Chief respects training and likes what I have to offer.  It helps that we have a great SWAT Training Center as well, Shoot House

g-shooter..are you my long lost brother?
I went through the same thing with my admin when I applied for a course which would have changed my position on our IERT. My name was taken off the list before the selection process was completed because I was "to old".
I've also been fighting for 5 years to improve out OJT for new CO's.
As Sully mentioned, most of my bosses don't see the need for a structured program and if it is going to cost money forget it.
