ok so i bought a pistol and had it delivered to my FFL to await for me to return home on leave. well i just found out i am getting Surge Deployed and my leave is canceled. i was planning on having my mom just go and pick up the pistol and register it under her name since i wont be able to get it because its back home in texas. what i am wondering is what do i need to do to transfer it to my name when i finally return home? thanks lonestar |

Legally your mom can't do it. The FFL has to hold it until you get back. The problem is that you, not your mom was the initial purchaser, i.e. original buyer. BTW there isn't registration in TX. If your mom had bought the gun for herself and gave it to you as a gift, then there is not legal requirement to transfer or register it from her to you. Some states have that requirement, not the feds. I don't live in TX, but from what I gather the laws are similar in TX as in OK and TN, two states I have lived in. |
