The anti-gun Washington Post has a project to celebrate the anniversary of the Sandy Hook by soliciting stories of "gun violence" from its readers.

The mission:

Go to the project page here (leave the link cold):

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/12/11/whats-your-gun-number-share-your-gun-story/

Fill out the form with a gun self-defense story where a criminal was shot by an armed citizen, using one of the links below:

http://gunssavelives.net/category/self-defense/

http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/armed-citizen.aspx

Alternatively, if you have personal gun self-defense story of your own, use that instead.

You can come back and post the story that you used in this thread, which bumps it up, and also makes sure that someone else can use a different story.

Another source for DGUs:

Rationality Rebooted

I think they did a good job (until disappearing) of getting nearly every story that got news attention.

I posted this story:

Deputies: Elderly woman shoots intruder armed with baseball bat

This is how I turned the anti-gun form onto its head.  We can have fun with this!

What is your gender? Male

In what year were you born? 1970

How many people do you know who have been killed or injured by gun violence? Several

We know this can be difficult -- and personal. But if you're comfortable, please tell us a little bit about each person: his or her name and age, his or her relationship to you, and what happened to him or her.

An older man, in his 50s. He broke into a house and attacked one of the residents with a baseball bat. An old lady living in the home shot him, ending the attack.

How did your life change as a result?

I was struck by how violence can strike anyone, anywhere, even in the sacred castle of the home, and how we must be ready to defend ourselves anywhere.

Did your feeling toward guns change as a result of knowing someone who died from gun violence?

All law abiding persons should take upon themselves the responsibility to own a gun for self defense and the training to use it safely and effectively.

Finally, may we publish your insights (and any uploaded files) and attribute them to you? (Your comments may be edited for length or clarity.)
Yes.

Is there anything else we should know about this topic?
I found a story link here. http://www.foxcarolina.com/story/23630259/deputies-elderly-woman-shoots-intruder-armed-with-baseball-bat

Yeah, I basically did the same thing, using this story (son home alone shoots and kills 1 of 2 home invaders).

If it's any help to know, there are a lot of pro-gun comments and others acknowledging that the story is simply a biased piece of propaganda masquerading as journalism:

Great link, thanks!

However, there haven't been any reports since November 6.  Any idea why?

This is an older article from March.  Now the WP is trying to repackage this to take advantage of the Sandy Hook anniversary.  Dirtbags.
